Job summary

Phoenix Tailings in the United States is seeking a Senior Process Engineer - Hydrometallurgist to lead hands-on development, optimization, and scale-up of hydrometallurgical systems for critical and rare earth metals production.

You will translate laboratory results into scalable process designs, work with R&D, engineering, and pilot operations, and mentor junior engineers while delivering robust operating parameters and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in hydrometallurgy and related chemically intensive systems.
• Deep hands-on experience with leaching, precipitation, filtration, solvent extraction, and purification.
• Proven ability to translate lab results into pilot-scale and commercial process decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and analysis of hydrometallurgical experiments spanning leaching, purification, precipitation, and separation.
• Develop and optimize process conditions for lab, bench, and pilot-scale systems.
• Translate experimental results into process flow diagrams, mass balances, operating windows, and equipment specs.
• Provide technical leadership for wet chemistry work, including solution chemistry and pH control.
• Support equipment sizing and selection for reactors, filtration systems, thickeners, and related equipment.
• Lead root-cause analysis for process performance issues and guide remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and operations to develop pilot test plans and SOPs.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in experimental design, safety, data interpretation, and documentation.
