Lumina is seeking a senior hydrometallurgist to lead the development, implementation, and management of a new hydrometallurgy plant in the US for critical mineral processing. The role involves piloting projects for minerals such as aluminum, gold, antimony, arsenic, and gallium, with scale-up anticipated for a versatile production facility sourcing ores. Candidates should have comprehensive experience in hydrometallurgy and mineral processing. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting lab work to develop and validate hydrometallurgical processes for sourced ores
  2. Developing chemistry and conditions for optimal processing
  3. Identifying appropriate pilot equipment for validation
  4. Implementing, testing, and optimizing pilot processes
  5. Supporting scale-up for the hydrometallurgical plant production
  6. Supporting production at the operational plant in the US
  7. Repeating the process for subsequent critical mineral projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field; MS or PhD preferred
  • Experience with aluminum, gold, arsenic, antimony, and/or gallium in a hydrometallurgical setting
  • Experience across lab, pilot, and production scales
  • Willingness to travel and work in the USA, with flexibility for remote work
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and persevere
  • Strong teamwork skills to deliver results
  • Flexibility and adaptability in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Self-motivated and independent work ethic
