Job summary

State of Maryland seeks a Hydrographic Engineering Associate IV to supervise survey crews and lead buoy placement and vessel operations within the Chesapeake Bay region. Responsibilities include budgeting, equipment upgrades, and installing GPS and navigational gear on terminals and vessels.

Qualified applicants will have strong surveying experience, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects and maintenance tasks for state facilities and vessels.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or high school equivalency with math/science courses.
  • Two to three years at advanced hydrographic engineering or nine years in related fields; substitutions allowed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise crews performing hydrographic surveying and buoy operations.
  • Lead vessel operations and maintenance, equipment upgrades, and budget reporting.
  • Install GPS/electronic equipment on terminals and vessels, and maintain facilities.
