Job summary

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking a Principal Hydrogeologist or Principal Geologist to lead mining hydrogeology efforts in Alaska. The role focuses on groundwater characterization, modeling, and mine water management, with senior technical oversight and client leadership across Alaska and North America.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in hydrogeology, strong permitting experience, and a track record in mine closure planning, environmental baseline programs, and regulatory negotiations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional experience in hydrogeology, mining environmental consulting, geology, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated expertise in mine-related hydrogeologic investigations and water resource assessments.
• Experience designing and managing environmental baseline programs for mine permitting and development projects.
• Strong understanding of mine water management, groundwater modeling, hydrology, geochemistry, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal-in-Charge or Technical Director for hydrogeologic projects supporting mining developments.
• Lead groundwater characterization, aquifer testing, water balance assessments, and modeling.
• Provide senior oversight for mine water management, dewatering, and closure planning.
• Guide projects involving geochemical characterization and ARD/ML assessments.
• Lead client relationships, proposals, and project scoping to grow practice in Alaska.
