Senior Hydrogeologist

Martin and Wood Water Consultants, Inc. (M&W) is seeking a qualified SENIOR HYDROGEOLOGIST with 10+ years of experience to join our established team.

Job Description: The Senior Hydrogeologist will be responsible for managing hydrogeology projects and staff. The employee will perform technical hydrogeological water resource work including water well design and construction observation, aquifer testing and analyses, groundwater monitoring studies, water accounting and operations, evaluation of lagging and return flow calculations, and writing technical memos and reports. The work may also include groundwater modeling, water quality evaluations, water rights analyses, and expert witness services.

Qualities Needed or Preferred:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Engineering (Master’s degree is preferred)
  2. Registration as a Professional Geologist
  3. Knowledge and experience with Colorado water rights
  4. Knowledge and experience with Denver Basin groundwater aquifers and alluvial aquifers
  5. Experience mentoring and managing junior staff
  6. Experience managing field operations for drilling projects
  7. Extremely proficient in MS Word and Excel
  8. Groundwater modeling experience preferred
  9. Familiarity with ArcMap/ArcGIS desired
  10. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  11. Motivated and willing to work independently and with others
  12. Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects at the same time
  13. Ability to organize and prioritize work
  14. Ability to meet project deadlines

Compensation and Benefits: Job classification and salary will be based on experience level and qualifications.

  1. Starting salary will range from $100,000 to $160,000 per year. Salary may vary depending on the experience of the applicant.
  2. Eligible for an annual merit bonus.
  3. Flexible work environment – we allow employees to work a flexible schedule in a hybrid work environment to promote personal and professional growth and balance. Our small office is located in Golden, Colorado (Genesee).
  4. Ability to earn and use comp time.
  5. 100% employer-contributed pre-tax retirement plan.
  6. Total compensation is estimated to be at least 20% higher when considering merit bonus and retirement.
  7. Choice between two health insurance plans (traditional and high deductible options).
  8. Health insurance provided at no cost to employees plus HSA contribution to those that choose the high deductible plan.
  9. Dental and vision insurance are provided at no cost to employee.
  10. Short-term disability and long-term disability insurance are provided at no cost to employee.
