Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks a Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer in California to lead inspection, evaluation, design, and construction observation of hydraulic structures, including dams, spillways, outlet works, gates, water conveyance structures and pump stations.

You will support GEI’s Structural/Geo-Structural practice and work with senior leadership in Rancho Cordova and beyond. The role requires coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, developing project plans, budgets and schedules,

Qualifications

• Strong design experience with steel and concrete.
• Experience applying linear and nonlinear finite element analyses.
• Geotechnical knowledge for soil/structure interaction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead large projects within technical specialty and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures related to dams, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and other water resource projects.
• Typical structures include spillways, outlet works, canals, storm drainage facilities, flood walls, and pump stations.
• Collaborate with senior project managers and technical staff across the company.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
• Review technical reports, letters and memoranda.
• Lead, or provide oversight for preparation of design calculations, permit documents, and reports.
• Develop construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and bid documents.
• Lead development of project plans, schedules and budgets.
• Lead proposals to provide professional services and support other GEI offices with proposals and the delivery of professional services.

Candidate would also provide support to GEI’s companywide Structural/Geo-Structural practice. This individual will lead inspection, evaluation, design, and construction observation of hydraulic structures, including dams, spillways, outlet works, gates, water conveyance structures, pump stations. Strong design experience with steel, concrete and theoretical background with experience in applying analyses to practical solutions, including linear and non-linear finite element modeling and analyses under static and dynamic loading is desired. Working knowledge of geotechnical engineering to assist in the design of soil/structure interaction elements is preferred.
