Job description

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Mechanic that is proficient in hydraulic systems to work in our shop facilities in Salt Lake City. We are an innovative solutions-oriented drilling services and drilling products company. REI Drilling, Inc. owns and operates 15 specialty underground and surface drills and provides drilling services to the mining and civil industries in North America. Through our products group, DPI, we also sell downhole drilling equipment to other contractors and third parties globally.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Diagnostics, disassembly, repair, and assembly of load sensing and pilot operated hydraulic systems.
  2. Diagnostics, disassembly, repair, and assembly of drilling equipment, including specialty drills, and other ancillary electric/diesel over hydraulic equipment.
  3. Specify, procure, repair, or replace wear parts for hydraulic pumps, valves, and flow control systems, triplex mud pumps, and transmissions.
  4. Maintenance of drilling and pumping equipment.
  5. Inspection/Measurement/Testing of drilling and pumping equipment.
  6. Troubleshoot drilling and pumping equipment with field personnel over remote communication platforms.
  7. Travel and troubleshoot, perform inspections, service, and maintenance of drilling and pumping equipment in the field as required.
  8. Assist with asset management, including facility maintenance as required.
  9. Perform other duties as directed by management.

Position Qualifications

  1. Must be able to read and understand detailed hydraulic schematics.
  2. Proficient with load sensing and pilot operated hydraulic systems.
  3. 10 years of fluid power (hydraulics) experience including load sensing and pilot operated systems.
  4. 10 years of electro/hydraulic or diesel/hydraulic power train experience.
  5. Mechanic certificates in hydraulics are preferable.
  6. Ability to improve and redesign hydraulic circuits to improve equipment performance.
  7. Ability to take instructions from Equipment Manager and complete tasks.
  8. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs more than once a day.
  9. Ability to travel and perform work in the field if necessary.
