Thompson Software Solutions LLC seeks a Senior HW/SW Integration Engineer Lead to join a multi-site team delivering integrated software and hardware solutions for defense programs. You will develop, test, and integrate software products with strong emphasis on verification and validation in safety-critical environments.

The role requires active Secret clearance, 100% onsite work in Huntsville, AL, and collaboration across avionics, firmware, software, and test teams to drive system-level HW/SW

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or related experience.
• 5+ years of systems engineering with a focus on development, testing and integration.
• Experience with I&T integration and test and system-level verification.

Responsabilités

• Lead HW/SW integration activities at main subsystem level.
• Coordinate across SW/HW teams to ensure vehicle functions meet design.
• Drive completion of HW/SW interfaces and ERB related changes.
• Develop subsystem interface documents/models and review interfaces.
• Support interface documentation reviews (internal, SDRL, CDRL).
• Focus on test labs and V&V activities from a holistic perspective.

Job Title: Senior HW/SW Integration Engineer

Salary Range: $123,600 - $164,800, plus bonus eligible

Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

This position requires full time onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior HW/SW Integration Engineer Lead who is ready to work with a talented team to provide innovative solutions for tomorrow’s problems. This position requires a software engineer to use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work independently at times on projects, at other times will be in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams.

Main Responsibilities:

• Lead (HW/SW) Hardware / Software Subsystem integration activities at the Holistic (MSV) Main Subsystem Vehicle or (KV) Key Vehicle level.
• Coordinate across various SW/HW teams to ensure vehicle functions are as intended.
• This includes FPGA, Flight Software, Test SW, EGSE, STE, and Simulation.
• Wherever HW touches, SW is within purview and a potential area for integration activities.
• The expectation of this role will have authority to delegate tasks to the appropriate SEIT, Avionics, Firmware, Software, EGSE, STE, Testbed, and Test POCs.
• Drive completion of any unresolved system level HW/SW interfaces and /or changes related to ERB.
• Drive completion of subsystem level interface documents/models.
• Support relevant interface documentation reviews which include internal, SDRL, and CDRL.
• Focus on test labs and hands on successful integration and V&V activities from a holistic perspective.
• Hardware fidelity pedigree
• Sim model V&V, hardware simulation functions adequately
• Drive progress and solve deficiencies when found

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline or related experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a strong focus on systems-level development testing and integration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-impact solutions.
• Experience with I&T integration and test.
• Experience developing and executing system-level and HIL test procedures
• Strong understanding of requirements verification and validation processes
• Experience troubleshooting integrated HW/SW systems in a lab environment
• Ability to professionally communicate project status and collaborate on technical solutions with clients and peers
• Active Secret Clearance Required
• Ability to work onsite 100%
• Ability to Travel up to 25%

Preferred / Additional Skills

• Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
• Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.
• Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Familiarity with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (Cameo, AADL)
• Experience with Signal Processing Implementation
• Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
