R&C Heating and Cooling Service in Santa Monica, CA is seeking an HVAC Service Technician with at least five years of hands-on service and repair experience. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial systems, communicating clearly with customers and following safety standards.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and installations as needed. A valid driver’s license and EPA 608 certification are required; company service van provided

Qualifications

• At least five years of hands-on HVAC service and repair experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
• EPA Section 608 certification appropriate for the equipment serviced.
• Experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting and refrigerant systems.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Own basic HVAC technician hand tools.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable attendance, attention to detail, and a team‑oriented attitude.
• Ability to perform essential field duties, incl. climbing ladders, attics/roofs, up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair central air conditioners, gas furnaces, heat pumps, packaged units, and ductless systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including filter replacement, coil cleaning, condensate drain maintenance, and inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors, capacitors, contactors, control boards, thermostats, and other components.
• Read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic instruments.
• Locate refrigerant leaks and perform recovery, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging.
• Evaluate airflow, filtration, ductwork, and condensate drainage.
• Explain diagnostic findings, repair options, and maintenance recommendations clearly.
• Document readings, photos, materials used, work performed, and recommendations.
• Assist with equipment installations and replacements as needed.
• Keep the company vehicle and tools clean and organized; follow safety instructions.
