Job summary

IU Health Fort Wayne Hospital seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to operate, install, troubleshoot and repair heating, cooling and related electromechanical systems across its facilities. It covers AHUs, walk-in refrigeration, and complex room environments.

The role involves leading small projects as needed, training colleagues, and ensuring compliance with hospital HVAC codes. Requires 5+ years of relevant experience and Universal CFC, in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's Degree or approved apprenticeship preferred.
• Requires Universal CFC and advanced knowledge of electrical, electronics, mechanical equipment repair and HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of hospital HVAC codes and ability to read complex blueprints and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Building automation system control and preventative maintenance for HVAC systems.
• First line of response for maintenance issues and basic repairs.
• Coordinate or lead project planning when necessary.

Overview

Hours: Monday-Friday 7a-3:30pm (Weekend and on call coverage will start in May 2027)

Location: Fort Wayne Hospital

Job Summary

Operates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs all heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration related electromechanical equipment and HVAC related systems throughout various facilities. Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs HVAC electrical, electronics, pneumatics and mechanical applications of systems. Applies understanding of how to operate the following, but not limited to, air handling units (AHU's), freezers, walk-in refrigerators, special room air balancing (i.e. isolation systems and laminar flow systems), laminar flow systems motor controllers, HEPA filtering requirements, and electronic, HVAC/VAV boxes. Coordinates or leads project planning when necessary. Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks. Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues and provides general leadership to the team. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Requires a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
• Experience working in industrial or commercial maintenance is preferred.
