Job summary

West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV seeks an HVAC Mechanic III to troubleshoot, repair, and install HVAC/R equipment across facilities. You’ll collaborate with technicians, manage work orders, and ensure safe, compliant operation of chillers and controls.

The role emphasizes teamwork, on-site maintenance, and timely project completion with strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance. A valid driver's license and EPA refrigeration knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in general trades building maintenance in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other craft trades.
• + One year experience leading/training others.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Work with technicians to maintain resources and shop equipment while keeping sites clean and secure.
• Receive and manage work orders, coordinate with supervisor, and communicate schedules.
• Cover for manager and assist in timekeeping and related documents.
• Repair, rebuild, overhaul, and maintain refrigeration and chiller systems.
• Diagnose with test equipment and use tools; solder/braze as needed.
• Maintain building control systems and interpret blueprints.
• Move materials and assist in project completion; respond to emergencies.
• Operate CMMS and other systems; document labor.
• Comply with EPA refrigerant handling and safety regulations.
