The purpose of this job description is to communicate the responsibilities and duties associated with the position of Senior HVAC Installer. JOB SUMMARY
The Senior HVAC Technician leads and performs advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across both residential and commercial properties. The Senior HVAC Technician will serve as a technical expert, providing guidance to junior technicians, and ensuring the highest standards of service and safety. This role requires deep expertise in HVAC systems, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence. Develop new business relationships and find solutions for their facilities, new construction, residential and replacement projects. Review construction project proposals and plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project. Interact with clients to provide recommendations for maintenance, repair, and/or replacement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, state, and federal laws, e.g., OSHA, ADA, EPA, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead and perform complex diagnostics and troubleshooting of HVAC systems issues.
- Plan, organize, and schedule HVAC projects to meet client needs and requirements.
- Install residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including next-generation refrigerant systems, split systems, rooftop units, and heat pumps
- Layout and fabricate ductwork and install according to specifications
- Perform system start-ups and ensure systems are operating according to specifications
- Interpret blueprints, job specs, and mechanical drawings
- Communicate clearly with project managers, inspectors, and clients
- Ensure all work meets local and state building codes
- Maintain tools, materials, and equipment provided
- Follow safety protocols and company policies on every job site
- Provide mentorship to HVAC Technician or apprentices as needed
- Manage project budgets, including cost, reporting, and tracking.
- Monitor project progress and identify any potential issues and find effective solutions.
- Selling additional products and services to clients as needed.
- Keep MSDS sheets current and readily accessible. Maintain thorough knowledge of pertinent laws, EPA and OSHA regulations governing proper storage and management of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Oversee all aspects of HVAC projects, including design, installation, and maintenance.
- Conduct regular meetings to provide updates and address any issues or concerns.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless project workflow.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in HVAC.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients to help foster a long-term partnership.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC installation. (Required)
- Class A HVAC License through TDLR. (Required).
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Experience installing high-efficiency or smart HVAC Systems.
- Experience with HVAC field service management software is a plus (i.e., ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, or similar).
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, appliances, plumbing, carpentry, plastering, drywall repair, painting, and HVAC
- Ability to operate small hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to use voltmeters, am probes, hand saws, skill saws, Freon recovery machine, Freon gauges, drill motors, and cutting tools.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Equipment Requirements
- Required to wear back support belt, wear goggles when working with specific equipment, wear masks and gloves and other personal protective safety equipment as tasks dictate.
- Follow all OSHA regulations.
Work Hours
- Minimum of 40 hours per week. On-Call and weekends as circumstances warrant for emergencies.
Equipment/Machinery/Tools
- An employee in this position must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of the following tools:
- Hand Tools – various wrenches, hammer, grips, saws, sledgehammer, snips, post hold diggers.
- Power Tools – wrenches, grinders, sanders, drills, saws, etc.
- User-Moved Aids – wheelbarrows, dollies, hand trucks, buckets, hoists, jacks, stepladders, full ladders, double ladders.
- Mechanical Equipment – motors, pumps, compressors, blowers, electric and hand power augers, etc.
- Measuring Devices – calipers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, testing meters, gauges, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Constand need (66% to 100% of the time) to be on feet.
- Have constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to perform the following actives:
- Bend/Stoop/Squat - Perform routine maintenance/repairs, pick up tools and needed equipment.
- Climb Stairs - Service requests, make ready needs for 2nd and 3rd floor apartments.
- Reach Above Shoulder - Perform routine maintenance/repairs, stock and remove equipment, parts, etc.
- Grasp/Grip/Turning - Handle tools and equipment, perform routine maintenance repairs.
- Finger Dexterity - Writing maintenance/repairs inventory maintenance, requisition requests, required maintenance reports.
Lifting/Carrying (supplies, replacement parts, ladders, etc.)
Over 150 lbs. Rare need (less than 1% of the time).
75 lbs. – 150 lbs. Occasional need (1% to 33% of the time).
25 lbs. – 75 lbs. Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time).
1 lb. – 25 lbs. Constand need (66% to 100% of the time).
Note: Lifting and carrying of weights exceeding 50 lbs., is to be accomplished with assistance from one or more people.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to document maintenance and complete forms, review manuals and operating instructions, read cautionary labels. Must use listening skills to diagnose needed repairs, etc.
SPEAKING REQUIREMENTS
Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to verbally communicate with clients and properties.
DRIVING/TRAVELING REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent need to travel to all projects and manage and oversee all HVAC projects.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Indoors (33% to 66% of the time).
- Frequent outdoors (66% to 100% of the time), all conditions, often for extended periods.
- Occasionally exposure (1% to 33% of the time) to paint fumes, solvents, adhesives, etc. Example: apartments during/after make-ready.
