Job summary

The State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Milwaukee Youth Facility, is seeking an HVAC Refrigeration Specialist Advanced to manage operation, inspection, repair, installation and preventive maintenance of mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems across the facility.

Under general supervision, you will troubleshoot DD C temperature controls, air handlers, boilers, chillers and related systems, support energy-saving initiatives, and ensure safety requirements and state policies are

Qualifications

High degree of mechanical aptitude and knowledge of HVAC/Refrigeration systems.
Experience with electrical, plumbing, heating and related systems in institutional buildings.
Skill in repairs and adjustments to mechanical devices, valves, pumps and fans.
Ability to operate power and hand tools used in mechanical maintenance work.
Awareness of safety hazards and procedures in building mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Operate, inspect, repair, install and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC/Refrigeration systems.
Maintain and service electronic, pneumatic and Direct Digital temperature controls (DDC).
Analyze systems, perform maintenance on boilers, chillers, air handlers and related equipment.
Collaborate with occupants and supervisor to implement energy-savings initiatives.
Support maintenance of emergency generators, lighting controls and related equipment.
