Job summary

EXP is looking for a Senior / Principal High-Voltage & HVDC Substation Electrical Engineer based in Chicago, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in designing and reviewing high-voltage systems while leading technical projects. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, provide oversight on engineering practices, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substation engineering.
• Demonstrated experience serving as project engineer or technical authority.
• Experience with EHV transmission and substation projects (500 kV–765 kV).

Responsibilities

• Direct detailed electrical and physical design of utility substations.
• Provide technical leadership on EHV system considerations.
• Lead advanced electrical system studies.

Skills

Design and review HV and EHV transmission and substation systems

Valid driver's license

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities

Education

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems preferred)

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

Tools

Power system analysis tools (ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, PSS®E, PSCAD)
