Job summary

Microvast is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer in Houston, TX with at least five years of hands-on humanoid robot design and development. The role spans mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines and involves collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

You will define requirements, design actuators and embedded controllers, test systems, and contribute to reliability, manufacturability, and cost improvements while advancing from prototype to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Mechanical Eng, Electrical Eng, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Five or more years hands‑on experience in humanoid robot design and development.
• Involvement in building/testing functional humanoid robots or major subsystems.
• Strong knowledge of robotic mechanisms, actuators, motor control, kinematics, and dynamics.
• Practical experience with encoders, inertial sensors, force/torque sensors, and real‑time control systems.
• Proficiency in Python and C++, with experience in embedded systems and robotics software.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and interface specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical communication, and cross‑functional teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering requirements and develop technical specifications for robotic systems and subsystems.
• Design, evaluate, and integrate actuators, joints, motor drives, sensors, and embedded controllers.
• Analyze robot kinematics, dynamics, motion performance, and mechanical stability.
• Support electrical architecture, power distribution, and electromechanical integration.
• Develop and test embedded software and control functions.
• Build prototypes and test fixtures; conduct performance, reliability, and system integration testing.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
• Evaluate components and technical solutions from suppliers and development partners.
• Prepare design documentation, engineering calculations, and validation reports.
• Support design reviews and continuous improvements in performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
