Job summary

Georgia Department of Human Services seeks a Human Resources Analyst 2 (Background) in Atlanta to support full-cycle recruiting, background screenings, and candidate onboarding checks.

Under general supervision, duties include coordinating with the Office of Inspector General, verifying credentials, and maintaining screening reports while collaborating with HR teams to ensure compliance and smooth hiring processes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED AND four (4) years of experience performing human resources job-related functions; or
  • One (1) year of experience at the lower level HR Analyst 1 (HRP050) or equivalent position. Substitutions of experience/education acceptable as described.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and reviews criminal background checks in coordination with the DHS Office of Inspector General.
  • Verifies educational credentials through the National Student Clearinghouse and directly with colleges and universities.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to conduct searches in child welfare database systems to confirm there is no adverse history.
  • Initiates and reviews Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks.
  • Initiates the drug testing process and reviews results in Vault.
  • Reviews prior government employment status.
  • Creates and maintains background screening reports and documentation.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with hiring managers and applicants regarding the status of checks.

  • Conducts pre‑vetting and Employee Relations reviews to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Performs other professional duties as assigned. Core Competencies

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year‑over‑year. Preferred Skills / Qualifications
  • Prior experience with NeoGov, PeopleSoft, Workday or other HR Information System & Applicant Tracking System.
