Senior Human Resources Generalist
Fairfax, VA (hybrid) office.
Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000
Key Responsibilities
Employee & Manager Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for escalated and complex HR inquiries.
- Interpret and apply company policies consistently and in alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Provide guidance on HR system matters.
- Processes paperwork for functional area(s) according to established procedures.
- Document and track cases to ensure timely resolution and accurate recordkeeping.
Employee Relations & Performance Support
- Conduct intake and initial assessment of employee relations concerns.
- Provide guidance on performance management and corrective actions.
- Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
- Review involuntary separations for compliance, documentation sufficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Escalate high-risk matters to HR Business Partner and Legal as appropriate.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure consistent application of policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support audits, investigations, and documentation reviews.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with employment laws and company standards.
Separation & Workforce Administration
- Review separation documentation for accuracy and policy alignment.
- Ensure compliance with final pay requirements and benefits notifications.
- Coordinate with Payroll and IT to support timely processing and system access termination.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with HR Business Partners and leadership to identify trends and recurring workforce issues.
- Contribute to reporting and workforce metrics analysis.
- Support process improvements and development of HR resources, templates, and guidance materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience at the HR Generalist level or above.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, Title VII, etc.).
- Experience supporting employee relations and performance matters.
- Experience with HRIS platforms (ADP preferred).
- Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
