Senior Human Resources Generalist
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. This role is a key partner to leadership and employees, playing a critical role in ensuring a positive employee experience while supporting business objectives through effective HR partnership, process execution, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Employee Relations
- Lead and conduct employee relations investigations from intake through resolution
- Partner with leaders to address complex workplace issues and ensure fair, consistent outcomes
- Recommend and document appropriate corrective actions
- Use HR data, trends, and insights to guide decisions and recommendations
- Manager Coaching & Development
- Coach managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement
- Provide guidance on handling sensitive employee issues and applying company policies
- Support development of leadership capabilities through training and ongoing coaching
- HR Programs & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO)
- Support audits and maintain accurate HR documentation and reporting (EEO-1, OSHA, etc.)
- Help maintain and improve HR policies and procedures
- HRIS & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate employee data and reporting within the HRIS
- Analyze HR data and generate insights to support business decisions
- Partner with HR Systems to enhance HRIS functionality and processes
- Training & Team Development
- Identify training needs and deliver programs focused on employee relations, compliance, and leadership skills
- Develop practical tools and resources for managers
- Mentor junior HR team members and contribute to overall team capability
- Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee fiscal year-end HR processes, including personnel changes and system updates
- Support HR projects and process improvement initiatives
- Support job evaluation and career progression frameworks
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience (or a minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist at Hamamatsu), with strong expertise in employee relations and investigations
- Proven ability to independently conduct investigations and advise on complex employee matters
- Strong experience coaching managers and influencing decision-making
- Solid understanding of employment laws and HR best practices
- Experience working with HRIS systems and using data to drive decisions
- Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of HR experience in a generalist or HRBP role
- Experience with job evaluation, job architecture, and compensation practices
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or HRCI)
- Experience supporting HR systems or process improvements
Pay Range
The target base salary for this role at commencement of employment is expected to be between $90,000 - $120,000 annually. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
