About CrowdDoing

CrowdDoing is a joint initiative of Match4Action Foundation (a US 501c3) and Reframe It (a social enterprise) focused on addressing complex social, economic, and environmental challenges through global multi-disciplinary volunteering and service learning. With approximately 4,000 volunteers spanning 30 countries, we support social innovations with transformative impact potential and aim to achieve systemic change through collective agency and operating leverage.

Role Overview

As a Senior HR Strategist at CrowdDoing, you will collaborate with a global network of HR professionals and cross-functional experts to design and implement innovative, human-centered HR solutions that support our systems change initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your HR expertise in a micro-leadership capacity, addressing critical HR gaps across our organization while contributing to meaningful social impact.

Current HR Challenges & Opportunities

Our "Nature Counter" initiative, which promotes the health benefits of spending time in nature through a location-based app, has self-managing teams that host regular subteam meetings. Some of our other CrowdDoing initiatives need people management infrastructure to do the same.

We need skilled HR leadership to:

  • Improve role development through human-bot collaboration
  • Optimize talent acquisition channels for a pool of 50,000+ volunteer applicants
  • Lead executive recruiting via LinkedIn and research on domain experts
  • Develop cyclical assessment of talent gaps and create feedback loops for recruitment, onboarding, and team integration
  • Enhance community management strategies
  • Re-engage dormant volunteers
  • Implement appropriate HRIS solutions for volunteer management
Engagement Model
  • Remote-First: Work from anywhere with flexible scheduling that accommodates your personal and professional commitments
  • Project Selection: Choose from dozens of initiatives that match your expertise, interests, and availability
  • Micro-Leadership: Take ownership of specific HR dimensions without the burden of comprehensive responsibility
  • Collaborative Focus: Partner with senior HR leaders and professionals from diverse disciplines to create systemic solutions
Impact Areas
  • Strategic HR planning for virtual volunteer operations
  • Talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention frameworks
  • Culture and diversity initiatives
  • Performance systems and cyclical assessment processes
  • Organizational design and scalability for rapid growth
  • People operations and volunteer well-being
  • Community management and engagement
Support Structure
  • Access to a comprehensive resource library and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Peer collaboration with experienced HR professionals
  • Regular strategy discussions to align your contributions with our broader impact goals
  • Flexible scheduling that honors your time commitment preferences
  • Orientation sessions and ongoing learning opportunities
The Ideal Candidate

You bring:

  • Senior-level HR experience with exposure to multiple industries
  • A collaborative mindset that thrives in diverse, cross-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in or enthusiasm for the non-profit or social impact sector
  • Natural talents in problem-solving, communication, and strategic thinking
  • A passion for creating systems that prioritize human well-being and effectiveness
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or related field (preferred)
Core Skills & Attributes
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to align HR strategies with organizational mission and values
  • Innovation: Creative approach to designing people-first systems and solutions
  • Analytical Thinking: Data-informed approach to addressing complex organizational challenges
  • Relationship Building: Exceptional communication skills to connect with diverse stakeholders
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new approaches and innovate within organizational constraints
  • Systems Thinking: Understanding of how HR functions interconnect with broader organizational goals
Why Join CrowdDoing?
  • Professional Growth: Develop your leadership skills through challenging, real-world projects
  • Meaningful Impact: Apply your HR expertise to initiatives addressing pressing global challenges
  • Global Network: Connect with professionals across disciplines and geographies
  • Flexible Commitment: Structure your involvement to complement your lifestyle
  • Learning Opportunities: Gain experience in cutting-edge approaches to volunteer management and organization design

This is an unpaid, not financially compensated virtual volunteer role. This volunteer role is perfect for HR professionals who want to apply their expertise to meaningful challenges, foster collaboration across disciplines, and lead by example in creating transformative HR initiatives. Your contributions will directly support CrowdDoing's mission to achieve systems change through social innovation.
