Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, MA seeks a Human Resource Specialist (IS-0201-12/13) to independently manage recruitment, staffing, classification, employee relations, performance, and visa processing for Federal and Trust positions.

The role requires expert knowledge of HR policies and systems, with promotion potential to grade 13 and a Trust-indefinite appointment. This is a full-time, on-site position opening to qualified US workers.

Competenze

• Knowledge of Federal and Smithsonian HR policies and merit system principles.
• Experience with recruitment, staffing, and position classification.
• Ability to advise managers on HR actions and compliance.
• Knowledge of visa processing for foreign nationals.
• Experience using HR information systems for processing actions.

• Manage full lifecycle staffing for Federal and Trust positions.
• Evaluate classification and provide authoritative recommendations.
