Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ten+ years progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial ops.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and coaching supervisors.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and leave/accommodation processes.
  • Excellent communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate for the Sr. Human Resources Generalist (SHRG) is an individual who is interested in furthering the Company’s human resource mission through engaging with the Company’s workforce, management and vendors. The SHRG serves as a trusted business partner to leaders across the organization by providing advanced HR support in employee relations, compliance, talent acquisition, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational development. This position helps align HR practices with operational objectives while fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace.

This role independently manages complex employee matters, coaches supervisors through difficult personnel situations, leads HR projects, analyzes workforce trends, and drives continuous improvement. The SHRG also serves as a subject matter expert and mentor within the HR function while helping build scalable processes for a multi-shift manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary HR business partner for assigned departments and build trusted relationships with leaders and employees.
  • Administer and execute human resource programs, including compensation, payroll, benefits, leave, performance management, employee relations, investigations, training, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, Company policies, and recommended best practices.
  • Provide guidance to managers on human resource matters, including performance concerns, corrective action, policy interpretation, and employee relations issues.
  • Lead or support employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, workplace investigations, and reasonable-accommodation matters.
  • Manage recruiting activities for hourly manufacturing and professional salaried positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, coordinating candidate selection, and developing ongoing strategy.
  • Participate in onboarding sessions and ensure new employees receive a thorough introduction to Company benefits, policies, and performance expectations.

Strategic Expectations

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through automation, technology, and simplified workflows.
  • Use workforce data and business knowledge to support decisions and recommend practical solutions
  • Develop scalable HR practices that support organizational growth, consistency, and accountability.
  • Serve as a change champion during organizational initiatives and communicate change clearly to employees and leaders.
  • Mentor less-experienced HR team members and contribute to the overall development of the HR function.

Skills, Qualifications, Education and/or Relevant Experience:

Required

  • This position is an on-site role and requires the employee to work from our Columbus, Ohio location.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least three years supporting manufacturing, distribution, or industrial operations.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and coaching supervisors through employee relations matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and leave and accommodation processes.
  • Excellent communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems.

Preferred

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and multi-shift manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with SharePoint, HR automation tools, or approved AI technologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or multi-state employment law experience.
  • Experience using generative AI tools in a business setting.
  • Exceptional employee service focus, including demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage work time efficiently
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving with the ability to implement new ideas and processes
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours when business needs require and to travel between company locations as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
