Job Title:Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP)

Location (city, state):Elgin, IL with regular travel to WI - Hybrid

Industry:Environmental Services

Pay:$100,000 – $120,000 base + 10% annual bonus

Our client supports a distributed, multi-state workforce and values strong leadership, operational excellence, and employee engagement. The previous HRBP in this role retired, creating an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HR professional to step in and make an immediate impact.

Job Description:

The Senior HR Business Partner will lead day-to-day HR operations for a service-based business unit, supporting a field and office workforce across multiple locations. This role requires a balance of strategic HR leadership, employee relations, and post-payroll financial support. You’ll partner closely with leadership and travel regularly to the Wisconsin office to maintain team alignment and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders on HR best practices
  • Lead employee engagement, onboarding, retention, and performance processes
  • Drive recruiting efforts in partnership with internal team members
  • Ensure HRIS system integrity, configuration, and data accuracy
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws across multiple states
  • Partner on compensation reviews, bonus programs, and talent development
  • Support change management, internal mobility, and succession planning

Payroll

  • Review payroll-related financial entries and reports
  • Collaborate with Finance on general ledger accuracy and tax compliance
  • Lead post-payroll audits and reporting
  • Assist with commission calculations and PTO tracking
  • Contribute to process improvements and documentation

Qualifications:

  • 7–10+ years of HR experience in progressively senior roles
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Paycor experience (required)
  • Advanced proficiency in HRIS systems, ideally with configuration capabilities
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to analyze general ledger activity
  • Experience supporting multi-state employee populations
  • Willingness to travel to a second office location (WI) weekly or bi-weekly
  • SHRM or relevant certifications preferred

Additional Details:

  • Hybrid schedule: 2 remote days per week
  • In-office: Elgin, IL and WI (travel support provided)
  • Flexible hours between 7AM–5PM
  • Role reports to HR Director and works alongside an HR Generalist and Payroll Clerk
