Job summary

ThinKom Solutions, Inc. in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Physics & Hardware Systems Engineer (HPM) to lead architecture, development, and testing of High Power Microwave systems for defense applications.

You will guide requirements flow-down, modeling (COMSOL, CST, HFSS), hands-on lab validation with VNAs and spectrum analyzers, and collaboration with program managers to deliver reliable, high-performance hardware.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.
2+ years of hands-on systems engineering experience with HPM or RF/Directed Energy.
Experience with Python, COMSOL, CST, or HFSS for simulations.
Lab testing with Vector Network Analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

System Architecture & Design: Lead architectural layout, component breakdown, and interface definition for complex HPM systems.
Requirements & Lifecycle Management: Drive requirements flow-down, traceability, and operational concepts from design through verification and production.
Hands-on Integration & Testing: Evaluate RF components using VNA, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
Customer & Subcontractor Engagement: Lead requirements working groups and present technical design reviews.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support multiple active programs with PMs and engineering teams.
Continuous Improvement: Refine testing and performance analysis frameworks across the company.
