Job summary

Aquatic Capital Management in Chicago is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the Infrastructure team. You will own the on-premise grid, cloud compute (GCP/AWS), GPU workloads, and automation, shaping research and trading compute platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and ensure high-performance storage and reliable data access across research and trading workloads. A strong leadership presence and deep Unix/Linux expertise are essential.

Qualifications

10+ years of systems engineering, infrastructure, or related discipline.
Deep Unix/Linux expertise across distributions.
Strong experience with HPC grid systems (Slurm) in research or scientific computing.
Experience provisioning and managing bare-metal infrastructure and data centers.
Familiarity with high-performance/parallel storage systems (VAST, GPFS, Lustre).
Strong scripting and automation fluency (Bash, Python).
Ability to lead technically and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the compute infrastructure powering quantitative research and production trading.
Architectural improvements for capacity, scheduling efficiency, and throughput, including GPU computation.
Design and maintain connectivity/automation between on-prem and cloud environments.
Evaluate and implement newer compute paradigms as research needs evolve.
Own high-performance storage systems (VAST, NFS, S3-compatible).
Design provisioning systems for complex compute resources and datacenter onboarding.
