University of Michigan's ITS Advanced Research Computing (ARC) invites applications for a Storage Engineer Senior. You will join a team building and supporting storage platforms for research data, focusing on automation, resource management, and performance tuning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years in managing a production Linux environment.
• Strong scripting in bash/shell and at least one of Perl or Python.
• Experience with storage deployments using NSF v4 with Kerberos, NFS v3 and CIFS including file permissions.
• Understand Unix/Linux TCP/IP networking and SQL.
• Familiarity with modern data analytics tools and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work self-sufficiently and within a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Install and support storage software.
• Create documentation for users and administrators.
• Apply software patches.
• End-to-end performance tuning of the data platforms.
• Keep abreast of new methods and releases to enhance capability.
• Provide support to users of the service including training and troubleshooting.
• Support internal ARC resources for management of storage services.
• Assist in inventory and cross-team collaboration for resources.
