Job summary

UT-Battelle’s National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) at ORNL is seeking a senior HPC Linux systems administrator to enhance security, performance, and reliability of Frontier and other clusters. You will implement, tune, and manage Linux systems in a high-security environment, with on-call duties and close collaboration with vendors and researchers.

This role emphasizes deploying scalable HPC infrastructure, maintaining compliance with NIST and STIGs, and delivering robust system

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 8+ years Linux systems experience.
• Experience with security policies, compliance (NIST, DISA STIGs) in classified environments.
• Proven ability to design and deploy HPC systems meeting security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, integrate, and administer HPC Linux clusters and high-speed networks.
• Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
• Port and write system management tools for NCCS environments.
• Document administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation and off-hours maintenance.
