Job summary

Supermicro is a global leader in data center, cloud, HPC, and networking solutions seeking a Sr. Hardware Design Engineer to drive the development of our in‑house server motherboards in San Jose, CA.

You will lead schematic capture, layout review, BOM generation, and debugging, collaborating with software, firmware, and product teams to meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements; mentoring junior engineers and growing into a leadership role within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in x86 server or workstation board design.
• Strong background in high-speed circuitry and voltage regulation.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Hands-on debugging with measurement equipment.
• Experience with Linux and hardware bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Lead schematic capture, layout review, BOM generation, debugging, and testing for server motherboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design issues early.
• Prepare technical documentation and compliance reports.
• Ensure designs meet EMC and energy regulations and performance targets.
• Mentor junior engineers and potentially move into people management.
