Job summary

IonQ in the United States is seeking an HPC Cluster Engineer to design, deploy, and operate an internal HPC platform spanning on-premises and cloud clusters. You will develop automation tooling, configure infrastructure at scale, and help researchers get the most from their workloads.

The role partners with researchers and developers to accelerate scientific computing while you grow into a go-to resource for HPC workloads within IonQ's technical community, contributing to a cutting-edge quantum

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years with Linux systems on HPC clusters including cluster management and performance tuning.
• Experience with HPC workload schedulers such as Slurm, PBS, or Grid Engine.
• Proficiency with Git and scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash).
• Experience with automation tools and system-automation (e.g., Ansible).
• Experience delivering projects in fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate HPC systems for quantum simulations and apps.
• Develop automation for configuring Linux systems on-premises and in the cloud.
• Support researchers and developers running simulations and workloads.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across teams handling diverse workloads.
• Self-manage projects, priorities, and deadlines; mitigate risks and roadblocks.
• Grow into a go-to resource for HPC workloads within the technical community.
