Job summary

The City of New York seeks an Agency Attorney L3, Managing Attorney for the Bronx unit in the Housing Litigation Division to lead litigation against property owners for code violations. You will supervise staff and negotiate complex matters, ensuring enforcement of housing standards across NYC.

Requirements include NYS Bar admission and 3 years’ legal experience post-bar, with good standing throughout. This role focuses on enforcement, trial preparation, and interagency collaboration within HPD.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• Three years of satisfactory United States legal experience after admission to any state bar.
• Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration.
• Experience in housing maintenance or tenant harassment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Litigate complex housing maintenance cases and supervise the Bronx unit.
• Assist Supervising Attorney in managing the Bronx Unit and staff.
• Negotiate on behalf of the agency on disputes with landlords and tenants.
• Review, revise and approve agreements, briefs and legal papers.
• Prepare for trial and argue cases in Housing Court or related tribunals.
• Advise on enforcement and administration of housing acts, rules and regs.
