Job summary

British American Household Staffing seeks an experienced House Manager/Senior Housekeeper for a private SoHo residence in Manhattan. The role blends hands-on housekeeping with active household management, coordinating vendors and anticipating the principal’s needs.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive and adaptable, with a can-do attitude. Schedule commonly runs Monday–Friday 8:30am–4:30pm, with additional hours during residence periods and guest stays.

Qualifications

• Experience in a high-standard private household, senior housekeeping or combined role.
• Excellent cleaning, laundry and ironing skills.
• Caring for antiques and artwork.
• Table service experience and ability to manage household records.

Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day ownership of keeping the residence organized and ready for the principal and guests.
• Hands-on housekeeping including cleaning, laundry and ironing; hands-on when needed.
• Specialist care for antiques and artwork using appropriate methods.
• Prepare bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces for arrivals; provide discreet service.
• Monitor stocks, replenish supplies and maintain expense records.
• Identify maintenance needs and coordinate with vendors and contractors.
• Prepare simple, healthy meals when required.
• Care for dogs including feeding and walking as needed.
• Maintain clear communication with principal, colleagues and family office.
