Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mine Hoisting and Shaft Specialist Design Professional Engineer to lead the Hoisting and Shaft team within our Professional Consulting Services in the United States. The role emphasizes technical leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, and delivering safe, compliant hoisting and shaft solutions for large-scale projects.

The position involves in-office work (Phoenix, AZ preferred) with some remote flexibility, relocation support, and occasional travel to project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the USA, or able to obtain license within 6 months from hire.
• 15-20 years of experience with shaft and hoist construction or maintenance.
• Proven leadership of engineering design teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized hoisting and shaft system design expertise.
• Ensure the hoisting team delivers within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Review designs for quality, safety, and compliance with standards.
• Lead cross-discipline coordination and client communications.
• Sign off on designs for construction where applicable in the USA.
