Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Chillicothe, IL is seeking a Senior Engineer to configure HMI systems that improve user experience and productivity.

You will design operator seats and controls, work with suppliers and validation teams, and lead multiple projects to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions for earthmoving equipment. The role requires a BS degree in a related field and 5 years in human factors, ergonomics, or related areas, with strong emphasis on DFMEA/PFMEA and validation planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing, testing, or manufacturing electromechanical components related to human factors or ergonomics.
• Experience with 3D modeling tools (CREO or equivalent).
• Experience collaborating with suppliers and customers to develop and supply products; knowledge of operator controls and seat design.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of HMI systems and operator seats; ensure high performance and quality.
• Collaborate with suppliers, machine integration teams, and validation teams to optimize performance and cost.
• Participate in requirements gathering, functional specs, DFMEA & PFMEA, and validation planning.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple projects with focus on quality, cost, and schedule.
