Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Histotechnologist Senior to serve as a technical specialist in the histopathology laboratory, performing complex histology and immunohistochemistry procedures under the Histology Supervisor.

You will mentor staff and learners, support quality assurance and regulatory compliance (CAP/CLIA, Joint Commission), manage inventory, and assist with daily operations and validation studies.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher in a biological science, or NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology program.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical Histology experience.
• Certified as HT or HLT by ASCP or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science preferred.
• Experience in training, quality improvement, validation studies, or IHC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical specialist and resource for the histopathology team.
• Perform complex histology procedures and immunohistochemical techniques.
• Oversee quality control, documentation, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Provide training and mentorship to Histotechnologists, students and residents.
