University Health is seeking an experienced Histology Lab Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensuring quality in embedding, sectioning, and staining. The role includes guiding staff, coordinating slide workflow, and maintaining CAP and Joint Commission standards.

The candidate should have a histology program certification, LIS experience, and substantial histotechnician background to lead a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Completion of an accredited histology program and histotechnician certification.
• Seven years’ experience as a histotechnician.
• Two years’ experience using a Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily technical operation of the Histology Laboratory.
• Observe staff performance and provide guidance for improvement.
• Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examinations; perform embedding, sectioning, staining.
• Coordinate and monitor workflow to ensure slide availability for pathologists.
• Troubleshoot processes and ensure CAP and Joint Commission compliance.
