Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Augusta, GA seeks an experienced Histotechnician to perform complex immunohistochemical and histological procedures. You will prioritize testing, maintain records, and coordinate training for students, residents, and fellows in a busy pathology laboratory.

The role requires an associate degree in science, high school diploma, and 4+ years in clinical or research histology with HT/ASCP or equivalent certification within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in science related field required.
• 4+ years clinical or research laboratory experience or HT/HTL/MT/QIHC certification at time of hire.
• HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP), MT(ASCP), or QIHC certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform microtomy for routine H&E stains, frozen sections, special stains, IHC testing.
• Embed tissue into paraffin blocks and prepare multiple sections on the same plane.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure supplies are available.
• Ensure CAP and CLIA compliance and meet turnaround times.
• Coordinate activities of students, residents and fellows in training.
