Position Overview

Department/Unit: Health Information Services
Work Shift: Day (United States of America)
Salary Range: $46,947.00 - $65,726.00

The Senior HIM Technician is a mid‑level position responsible for advanced health information management processes within the Albany Med Health System (AMHS). This role focuses on complex indexing, deficiency and quality analysis of incoming clinical documentation (medical records) for AMHS' inpatient and outpatient facilities/services. The position supports the delivery of quality healthcare by ensuring patients' information is complete, accurate and accessible in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Med Health System, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes. Workforce members are expected to ensure that access to information is based on a "need to know" and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties. Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose. Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Health System policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate, bachelor's or master's degree in HIM or related field preferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration: RHIA, RHIT preferred.

Experience: 2 or more years in Health Information Management (HIM) operations or related field with a focus on EHR systems such as EPIC and OnBase. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Patient‑Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) quality measures.
