Job summary

Clark County Government seeks a Highway Engineer to lead planning, design, construction, and maintenance of county road, bridge, drainage, and transportation assets.

You will oversee surveys, specifications, bids, contracts, and project delivery, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws while coordinating with INDOT and other agencies. A PE license and ERC credentials are required or achievable within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Must have Indiana P.E. license or eligibility via reciprocity.
• ERC certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Thorough knowledge of roadway, bridge, drainage, surveying, and construction engineering principles.
• Experience preparing budgets, managing capital projects, and administering contracts.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with elected officials, employees, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and oversee construction, maintenance, and improvement of roads, bridges, culverts, drainage, and related infrastructure.
• Prepare surveys, plans, specifications, easements, cost estimates, bid documents, contracts, and construction documents.
• Review bids, recommend awards, monitor construction, inspect work, and certify completion.
• Serve as ERC for county transportation projects and coordinate with consultants, utilities, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Attend meetings with INDOT, KDIPA and other agencies and administer grants and funding programs.
