Job description

Senior Highway Engineer

Based in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, you will play a key role in delivering complex, exciting and engaging large‑scale transportation infrastructure projects across the region. As a senior technical leader, you will serve as a design lead and client‑facing engineer of record on PennDOT and PTC projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, and construction support for major highway and roadway initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Lead Highway Engineer / Engineer of Record on significant transportation projects from concept through final design and construction support.
  • Provide technical leadership for roadway geometry, interchange design, traffic control/staging, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion & sediment control.
  • Oversee and review design deliverables to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate staffing projections, schedules, budgets, and risk management with project managers.
  • Interface directly with subconsultants, clients, reviewing agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide a team of junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering technical growth and quality‑focused delivery.
  • Support proposal development, scope development, and technical interviews as a senior contributor to business growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania.
  • Advanced proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Substantial progressive experience in transportation engineering with a strong focus on highway/roadway design.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex highway design projects for PennDOT and/or PTC.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Local to our Pennsylvania offices in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $132,900.00 to $160,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
