Ready to advance your career while contributing to the future success of a rapidly growing firm? BETA is seeking an experienced Highway Senior Engineer to join our team. This position will play a key role in performing highway design, developing contract plans and documents, and mentoring junior staff. The role involves collaboration across multiple service areas, assisting with business development, project pursuits, and coordinating projects with clients.

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical assistance and manage technical aspects on transportation and related projects
• Perform detailed engineering tasks, including design, review/preparation of contract documents, and development of construction cost estimates and specifications
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring responsive client service and effective communication
• Collaborate with municipalities and agency clients
• Present project findings and represent the company at client meetings
• Support and collaborate within the overall design team with other disciplines
• Mentor junior staff members

The position is based in BETA’s Hartford office, with flexibility to work from other locations. A hybrid work schedule is available, allowing remote work up to 2 days per week.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
• 10+ years of engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and Microstation OpenRoads Designer
• Knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, CTDOT design standards
• Ability to collect field data and perform asset inspections
• Ability to lift/move objects up to 40 pounds
• Capability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
