Job summary

H&H seeks a Senior Highway Engineer to lead roadway and highway design efforts for major transportation agencies in New Jersey. The role oversees complex projects, ensures design quality, and coordinates multidisciplinary teams through the full project life cycle.

The candidate will manage scope, schedule, and budget while aligning with NJDOT and Turnpike Authority standards. A PE license in NJ, strong communication, and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ten years of highway, interchange, or roadway design experience.
• NJ Professional Engineer license required.
• Familiarity with NJDOT, New Jersey Turnpike Authority, and AASHTO design standards.
• Experience with CAD software (MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads) and Primavera, Excel and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams in delivery of multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Prepare and oversee roadway and highway design plans, calculations, specs and permitting documents.
• Support projects involving roadway geometry, complete streets, grading and drainage, safety improvements and traffic control staging.
• Provide technical QA/QC reviews.
• Oversee construction support services, including submittals and RFIs.
• Assist with business development, client coordination and proposal preparation.
• Maintain project schedules, budgets, and financial performance.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and internal project teams for successful delivery.
