Job summary

Precision Systems, Inc. seeks an experienced Construction Inspector in Virginia with 5+ years of highway inspection experience. You will monitor contractors on roadway, structure and bridge projects, ensure quality, and maintain precise field records and pay quantities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of highway construction inspection experience in Virginia, including or with VDOT.
• Knowledge of road/bridge construction methods, materials, standards, specs.
• VDOT Certifications related to asphalt, concrete, pavement or inspection.
• Ability to read plans, symbols and terminology.
• Familiarity with environmental, safety and EEO guidelines.
• Proficiency in contract management software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor work to ensure quality control and contract compliance on roadway, structure and bridge projects.
• Inspect excavations, drainage, road surfaces and structures; document daily production.
• Record field measurements, material tests and pay quantities; maintain diaries and monthly estimates.
• Coordinate work phases with contractor and agency personnel; manage field inspections.
• Enforce erosion/siltation controls, traffic control devices and work zone safety.
• Suggest plan changes to meet field conditions and cost savings.
• Maintain project records and as-built documentation.
