Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a Principal Engineer for our Construction Program in Wheatland, Wyoming. This role oversees all aspects of highway construction and contract administration from design through construction, including bridges, interstates, state highways, and local roads, coordinating with federal, state, and local partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license required at time of hire - Wyoming PE required within one year of hire date.
• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Documentation of project quantities and payment.
• Negotiate and secure agreements with landowners, government agencies, and consultants.
• Coordinate with city, county, federal, and public representatives to address project impacts at design/construction.
• Generate plans, summaries, and estimates for maintenance projects.
• Review, generate, and negotiate change orders.
