Job summary

Atlas Search is seeking a Hedge Fund Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance for a portfolio of hedge funds and related entities.

This highly visible role partners with the investment team, senior management, administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate NAV, reporting, and compliance. The role requires 8–12+ years of hedge fund experience and leadership of accounting staff.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of accounting experience in hedge funds.
• Strong understanding of NAV calculations, partnership accounting, and investment accounting.
• Experience working with external auditors and fund administrators.
• Knowledge of management and performance fee calculations, investor allocations, and capital activity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full accounting and financial reporting process for hedge funds and related entities.
• Review NAV calculations, capital activity, P&L, expenses, accruals, and investment activity.
• Manage relationships with third-party fund administrators and ensure timely reporting.
• Review financial statements, investor reporting, capital statements, and fund-level reporting.
• Oversee the year-end audit process with external auditors; resolve issues.
• Partner with tax advisors on fund tax reporting, K-1s, estimates, and related matters.
• Review management, incentive, and performance fees; monitor fund expenses.
• Monitor cash activity: capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, redemptions, allocations.
• Collaborate with investment team on portfolio activity and accounting treatment.
• Review and improve fund accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support onboarding of new funds and strategies; assist with regulatory and management reporting.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve processes; mentor junior staff.
