Job summary

WM, North America’s leading waste management provider, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic III at our Indianapolis transfer station with travel to Noblesville, IN. You’ll service and repair heavy machinery used across our recycling facilities, ensuring reliability and safety in daily operations.

Expect a Monday–Friday schedule, 5AM–3PM with overtime and occasional Saturdays, plus benefits and opportunities for training and growth as you support essential services across the U.S. and Canada.

Qualifications

• 6 years of maintenance mechanic experience on heavy equipment.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements with or without accommodations.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Annual Pulmonary Function Test, Audiogram and Respirator Fit Test.

Responsibilities

• Repair equipment including bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars.
• Diagnose and repair differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance as per site checklists.
• Handle paperwork and admin tasks such as work orders, card files, PM checklists and oil samples.
• Service and maintain other equipment such as light plants and welders.
• Follow site-specific procedures and duties as assigned.

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic III you’ll be responsible for the service and repair of heavy equipment like bulldozers, scrapers & front end loaders - this equipment is vital to the work we do, so your work will be recognized and valued for the impact it has on our operation. Our waste disposal sites operate a rigorous cleaning schedule to protect the working environment for all our employees.

• Repair equipment including, but not limited to, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars.
