Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or GED and considerable experience in the operation and routine maintenance of heavy and complex construction equipment.
• Possession of a valid CLASS A commercial driver's license issued by the State of Tennessee.
• Pre-employment DOT physical, drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment such as graders, scrapers, large backhoes, front-end loaders, tub grinders, boom mowers, bucket trucks and compactors.
• Operates a motor grader in snow removal, grading and ditching roads and streets, and in spreading and smoothing base materials.
• Operates a bulldozer and motor scraper in digging and loading dirt, compacting and burying refuse, and general construction work.
• Services and makes repairs and adjustments to assigned equipment, and assists skilled mechanics in repair work.
• Instructs lower level operators in the finer points of operation and servicing of assigned equipment.
• Performs general skilled and semiskilled laboring tasks when not operating equipment.
