Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work on Fort Hunter Liggett, CA. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of heavy machinery, with duties including welding and assisting with assembly/disassembly.

You’ll work indoor and outdoor environments with periodic overtime and must bring your own tools. The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience, knowledge of AR 750-1, and a valid CDL.

Qualifications

• 5+ years heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of U.S. Army maintenance procedures (AR 750-1).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Analyze malfunctions and repair power equipment such as cranes and bulldozers.
• Operate and inspect machines, diagnose defects, dismantle and reassemble components.
• Weld broken parts and assist with assembly and disassembly.
• Work indoors and outdoors; overtime and varying weather.
• Duties may change with notice.
