Job summary

The City of San Antonio is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator/lead to perform excavations, loading, and material handling for city maintenance projects. Work locations include Rigsby Ave and Wurzbach Pkwy in San Antonio, with a Tuesday-Friday and Saturday schedule, outdoors in challenging conditions.

Responsibilities include operating cranes, graders, excavators, and bulldozers; supervising crews; maintaining equipment and logs; and ensuring safety standards on all tasks.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience operating light, medium, and heavy equipment.
• Must have Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or Texas CDL with endorsements.
• Reading and writing ability sufficient for job performance.

Responsibilities

• Operates cranes, graders, excavators, bulldozer, tractor trailer, and other equipment.
• Executes work instructions and directs subordinate employees in maintenance tasks.
• Performs inspections and maintenance checks on equipment and vehicles.
• Prepares reports, work orders, logs and time sheets.
• Trains employees in equipment use.
• Transports tools, vehicles, and equipment to and from job sites, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Provides lead supervision to crews and ensures work meets specifications and quality standards.
• Adheres to safety standards and uses protective gear.
• Removes debris from drainage ditches, streets, and alleys.
• Operates heavy equipment for landfill disposal or demolition projects.
• Maintains stock of supplies and materials.
