Senior Heavy Civils & Tunnelling Estimator

The project:

Mace, as part of MPA delivery partner joint venture of Mace-Parsons-Arcadis, have been selected as the Gateway Development Commissions partners of choice to support the GDC across the Gateway Program in New York, inclusive of the Hudson Tunnel Project. The Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England.

You'll be responsible for:
  • Under minimal supervision, performs complex duties utilizing advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and methods for Heavy Civils & Tunnelling Projects.
  • Is responsible for the overall development of construction projects estimates working in collaboration with the design and construction groups.
  • Prepares estimates with the proper level of detail for all stages of design including conceptual, schematic design, design development and construction documents.
  • Reviews design documents for proper information to receive accurate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, generates acceptable value engineering ideas.
  • Reviews subcontractor and supplier proposals for conformity to scope of work requirements.
  • Participates in the preparation of bidder's scopes of work, bid tabulations and proposals.
  • Is familiar with current labor and material pricing, including unions and union agreements maintain a historic database by project and system type.
  • Establishes good working relationships with trade subcontractors.
You'll need to have:
  • BA/BS plus relevant experience demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • New York/New Jersey specific experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction projects.
  • Experience in estimating mass excavation and underground construction projects.
  • Experience in constructability reviews of heavy civil and transit related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with commercialized estimating programs.
  • Evidence of good potential growth shown by satisfactory performance in past positions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Potential to perform in a lead capacity.
You'll also have:
  • NYCT, LIRR, MNRR, NYCT, PANYNJ or Amtrak experience preferred.

Note: The estimated salary for this position is $200,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
