Job summary

Appleton Finn in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to oversee field operations on major infrastructure and civil construction projects throughout the region. You will lead crews and subcontractors, coordinate schedules, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in heavy civil construction, prior superintendent experience, and a proven track record on highways, bridges, utilities, and water/wastewater projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction experience with strong Heavy Civil background.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent or equivalent role (Senior/General/Assistant).
• Experience on major civil/infrastructure projects (highways, bridges, utilities, water/wastewater, grading, paving, public works).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, safety, and field operations.
• Ability to manage multiple crews, subcontractors, and project activities.
• OSHA 30 preferred.
• Ideal candidates have led large infra projects in the Los Angeles/Southern California market.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily field operations from mobilization through completion.
• Supervise Foremen, craft labor, subcontractors, and equipment.
• Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and project schedules.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Monitor productivity, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, owners, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Identify and resolve field issues and maintain project documentation.
• Lead jobsite safety meetings and ensure OSHA/company standards are met.
