Job Summary

Responsible for installation and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems within the Regional Detention facility, including analyzing system capacity, operational efficiency, and developing repair/replacement schedules.

Essential Job Functions

1. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs malfunctions in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, kitchen coolers and freezers, ice machines, and control boxes using diagnostic devices.
2. Replaces or repairs compressors, motors, filters, and other defective components.
3. Performs preventive maintenance on heating and cooling systems, including lubricating bearings, changing belts, cleaning coils, and adding refrigerant.
4. Oversees testing of HVAC units within the facility.
5. Analyzes system functioning and condition; develops maintenance and replacement schedules.
6. Reviews blueprints and specifications; makes recommendations on system types, capacity, and installation processes.
7. Inspects contractor work for compliance with specifications.
8. Oversees repair and maintenance of hot water boiler systems.
9. Maintains inventory of supplies and materials; completes requisitions.
10. Assists with equipment specifications and scope of work for system replacements.
11. Prepares schematics and drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
12. Maintains records of repairs and replacements.
13. Responds to equipment malfunctions 24/7 as needed.

Working Conditions

Work is performed within the facility involving electrical parts and equipment. Must remain on call during assigned periods. Occasional contact with inmates.

Education and Experience
